Hi, I’m Kala — I was born and raised in East Tennessee, and goodness, am I grateful to spend my days documenting the stories and traditions of the people who call this place home.

I originally spent much of my early adult years working toward a career in music, so I never imagined I would end up as a photographer—though I’ve since learned that my time in music has deeply shaped the way I see and create.

Music taught me to feel timing, emotion, and beauty; photography gives me a way to preserve it.

When I’m not behind the camera, there’s a 99% chance you’ll find me with my sweet boy Swig (who is very much a dog, but also very much my child), or making, drinking, or dreaming about coffee. I’m a people pleaser to a fault, but one of the best parts of that is that I’m here for my clients wholeheartedly, start to finish.

I’ve had the honor of photographing 300+ families and couples up until this point, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you’ll be one of the next.
